Angel numbers?—What the heck are those?
Let’s backtrack three years.
I had three kids in elementary school who, overnight, were expected to navigate their education completely online thanks to Mr. Covid (jerk!!).
They had to attend virtual classrooms, download assignments, do them, and turn them in—all by themselves.
My 5-year-old's response when I told her this? “Mama, what’s a computer?”
You get the drift.
Something had to give, so my spouse and I decided one of us needed to quit our busy jobs to help the family through this.
At the time, I didn’t know if I’d drawn the short straw or the long one, but I drew it.
I put in my resignation and planned for a 3 month sabbatical–I am writing this to you 3 years later.
The Angel Number Invasion
About five months in, something interesting started happening.
Every morning when I looked at my phone, it showed 9:11. Every evening, 9:11 again.
At first, I thought, "Total coincidence." But this coincidence kept happening for an entire month. So, naturally, I asked Mrs. Google. Her answer? Angel numbers.
I’d never heard of them. If you haven’t either, here’s the TL;DR:
Angel numbers are those repeating numbers you keep seeing—like 111 or 444.
They’re messages from your “spiritual squad” (a.k.a. angels) and show up in everyday life, from clocks to receipts, like cosmic sticky notes saying, “Hey! Pay attention!” Think of them as subtle nudges from the universe, reminding you it’s got your back (or at least keeping you on your toes).
Each angel number has its own special vibe. Here’s a breakdown of five of the most common ones:
111 – New Beginnings
Seeing 111? The universe is basically sending you a “GO!” signal, saying, “Stay positive and focus on what you want to attract.”222 – Balance and Harmony
The number 222 is a reminder to balance things out, like your dentist telling you to floss—only less guilt-inducing. It says you’re on the right path, just need a sprinkle of patience.333 – Alignment and Encouragement
Spotting 333 means you’re in sync—mind, body, and spirit. It’s the universe saying, “You got this!” Think of it as a cosmic thumbs-up.444 – Protection and Stability
444 is like the universe’s way of saying, “Relax, I got you.” It’s a reminder you’re safe, and everything’s under control (mostly).555 – Change and Transformation
Seeing 555? Brace yourself; change is coming. It’s the universe’s “heads up” text: “Hey, get ready to mix things up!”
Signs in Numbers: My Journey with 9:11 and Beyond
So, once I learned about angel numbers, I thought I’d cracked the code.
But then, the 9:11 sightings turned into 11:11, then 10:10, then 43 (which stuck around the longest), and more recently 5:55.
These weren’t just times on a clock—they showed up everywhere: on flight numbers, license plates, receipts.
Now, I know what you’re thinking: obviously, numbers show up where numbers exist.
And trust me, I thought the same. But these numbers seemed to follow me in waves, almost like they had something to tell me.
Every time I felt uncertain, poof—the numbers would pop up.
At first, I’d say out loud, “I don’t believe this is real—if it’s you, show me this number five more times today.” And, yup, there it was. It felt like guidance from the universe, like a gentle hand directing me.
The numbers became most powerful when I was about to face a big life change. Earlier this year, I decided to return to a management position after three years.
Spoiler alert: it lasted 10 weeks.
Three weeks before I quit, the universe started hitting me with “555” constantly.
I’ll spare you the details of the trauma and toxicity that led me to jump ship.
But here’s the strange thing—about three weeks before it all went down (and I mean down, I quit over a weekend because it was getting ugly between my boss and me), the universe started prepping me.
Before things even began to slip, I was being stalked by "555" everywhere I went—at work, at home, on my drives, on the internet.
If you read above, 555 means big changes are coming.
I thought, Well, yeah, I went back to work after three years off; that’s the big change.
Yeah… not quite.
The big change turned out to be the political drama at work.
I reached out to our director the Friday before I quit.
She listened to me and asked me to hold off until Monday so she could address my boss (who also reported to her). My peers assured me she’d make it right and that this would end fairly.
The next day, we were on the road, and my husband was driving notoriously slowly behind a bus.
It was taking everything inside me not to backseat drive and tell him to change lanes.
My mind drifted back and forth, stressing over what the outcome would be on Monday and feeling annoyed about this caterpillar-like bus we were stuck behind.
And then, it happened... I got this intuitive nudge to pay attention.
And here’s what I saw:
Yeah, you see that bus number, but do you also see the battery life?
At that moment, I knew the director wouldn’t be able to make things right, and it was time for me to move on.
I took a deep breath, embraced the outcome, and on Monday, it played out exactly as my intuition had given me the sense it would.
As disappointed as I am in what happened, I also know the universe has a plan and was preparing me for this.
There was a reason I had to go through that experience, and I can feel that transformation is on the horizon.
So here I am, sitting and writing—something I’d never imagined doing.
Now, if only that next number could show up…preferably in my bank account:)
The Universe Speaks in Math
These numbers made me wonder about how the universe communicates.
The more I learned, the more I realized that math is the universe’s language.
Numbers and patterns show up everywhere, from the way leaves grow on a plant to the spirals in a seashell.
Two of the biggest examples are the Golden Ratio and the Fibonacci Sequence.
The Fibonacci Sequence is a series of numbers where each number is the sum of the two before it: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, and so on. This sequence shows up all over nature—like the number of petals on flowers or the spirals in pinecones and sunflower seeds.
Then there’s the Golden Ratio, about 1.618, also known as Phi (φ).
This ratio shows up in the proportions of nautilus shells, galaxies, and even Leonardo da Vinci’s paintings, like The Mona Lisa and The Last Supper.
The Golden Ratio is the universe’s go-to for making things look harmonious and balanced.
These patterns are everywhere, and they’re not just random—they’re consistent.
Whether it’s the Fibonacci Sequence in plants or the Golden Ratio in art and architecture, numbers create beauty and structure.
So if the universe uses math to structure everything around us, isn’t it possible it could use numbers to communicate with us too?
Final Thoughts
If you’re seeing repeating numbers, it’s more than just coincidence.
Think of them as messages, little nudges, or guidance from the universe.
Whether it’s 111 or 555, these numbers are part of the same mathematical patterns we see in nature, showing us how interconnected everything really is.
Angel numbers are our personal version of the universe’s language of math. And if we’re open to listening, we can learn to tune in a little closer to that cosmic conversation.
Next time you spot that number popping up again and again, take a moment and think: maybe it’s the universe trying to say hello… or it just really, really wants to be your new best friend.
Either way, let’s hope it doesn’t start asking for rent money!
sooo interesting!! I do sometimes see numbers again and again and never really questioned it a lot. next time it happens, I'll see if it stands for something ✨
My whole family sees numbers, we all have 11:11 in common but I’ve learned to see more. I got 333 yesterday. It is fun to play and ask for numbers to, I still don’t understand them very well, but I do understand that they are for me and communication from beyond. It’s amazing.
