David Goggins Just Changed My Life
How His Relentless Mindset Made Me Ditch Self-Help and Take Action
I recently stumbled upon David Goggins—yes, I’ve been living under a rock. (It was an exhausting feat pushing that rock off, but I’m okay now. Thanks for asking!)”
Goggins story of transformation is mind blowing–losing 106 lbs in 2 months to join the Navy Seals.
My weight goals? More like 0.1 lbs a month—I strategically weigh myself after nature calls. (Too much? Sorry, not ‘ladylike’—I’ll behave.)
Goggins resilience is more than awe-inspiring but something else he said struck me the hardest.
He stated that he sees the same (expletive) ‘people’ showing up to his self-help seminars year after year. No change—just showing up on repeat.
He called them ‘lazy’.
(And many other words I won’t script here in case my kids ever read this)
They won’t take the real action necessary to change their lives and just show up for a feel good weekend–over and over.
Quick dopamine hit and they bust–no follow through.
This hit hard—I love self-help books, podcasts, and Joe Dispenza retreats.
But what if I’m missing the real action too?
This inflection created a knee jerk reaction-I tossed the book I was holding in the trash, deleted Spotify off my phone, and blocked Joe Dispenza from my Facebook friend list (who says friendship has to be two ways? So what if Joe doesn’t even know I exist).
Point is—I am done being a self-help junkie.
It’s time to go full-force Bruce Lee—‘hi-yah.’
Reading about how a treadmill works does not provide any value–you need to get on the actual treadmill to get results.
So–what does this all mean for me?
More reps writing.
More broccoli on my plate.
More yoga moves in my home gym.
More Korean drama marathons—okay, let’s scrap that one for now.
(Side note: Hands down, the best Korean drama ever is Crash Landing on You.)
Little things turn into big things.
I’m ready to boost my action dial and get a tattoo of Goggins on my right bicep.
Well, this might be too soon since we just met—‘hold pile.’
But seriously—I’m not waiting for the perfect topic or script to write.
This piece is proof.
Reps in motion.
Now, get out there and do the same!!!
You got this:)
